FAQs

Q: What is required of me to receive my letter of internship? A: Participate fully in Hampton Beach Summer Mission (including developing a Ministry Partner Team), serve on the Media Team while on mission, and let your leadership know you desire the accreditation.

Q: Do I have to do the internship? A: No. The Summer Mission experience is the same for everyone except for the distinct Servant Teams. Those who need the internship must request in advance so that they can be assigned to the Servant Team in charge of Media.

Q: Can a Christian mission really count as an internship for a public university? A: While Summer Mission is ultimately about sharing God’s love with others and your own spiritual growth, the communication skills you receive are valuable to any setting. You will be working a job in the community and trained in a variety of communication skills - verbal, conversational, written, digital, which you will employ in a variety of settings - intergenerational, peers, as a leader, as a member.

Q: Should I talk to my academic advisor first? A: We always recommend you discuss your academic requirements with your advisor. Some degree programs might have nuances in their internship requirements. When you do talk to your advisor, be sure to emphasize that Cru’s Summer Missions (previously called Summer Projects) have been recognized for over 50 years as a reputable leadership development program.

Q: What should I call it on my résumé? A: For a secular résumé: Hampton Beach Summer Mission, a selective 9-week program for development in leadership and communications. For a ministry résumé: Hampton Beach Summer Mission, a selective 9-week program for discipleship, evangelism, and development in leadership and communications.
