Year after year we hear stories of what led students to serve on mission, and it almost always includes how they heard about it from a student or staff who had been before and loved it.
THREE WAYS TO INVITE
Be someone else’s encourager. Your close friends and family have probably heard you talk so much about HBSM that they feel like they know it all! (We love that btw). As a next step, pray and consider who God would have you invite to apply for next year’s mission. When you recall your own journey to Summer Mission, it probably involved someone clearly inviting you. Most people need to hear that someone else thinks they’re ready for this step. You can be an encourager in someone else’s life in this same way! Download, print, and share one or more of these resources to give to a friend and tell them why you think they’re ready for HBSM.
Share your mission experience with a group. Consider asking your church, small group, or Cru ministry if you can share about how God grew your heart for Himself and the world during Summer Mission. Offer to be available to chat with anyone who’s interested in applying, and point them to these resources, this website, and our Instagram: @hamptonbeachsm
Host a prayer time for HBSM. Matthew’s Gospel tells us that when Jesus saw the crowds, he felt their desperate need for God, and he had deep compassion for them. This led Jesus to say to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the Harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his Harvest fields (9:37-38).” Pray in earnest for this mission, and ask others to join you in prayer.
